Day 2 - Visit to folk village
Another rainy day

After another delicious breakfast at the somerset, we met out new guide, Minje, and our van driver in the lobby. Took an hour ride to a famous folk village where I think we were the only visitors for about the first hour we were there, walking around in the rain. We first toured a very pretty, peaceful hillside sculpture garden. Then after Sami requested, "could we please do something fun," we found a section of the park with some amusement rides. It had a certain surreal/earie quality as the rides were all on with no riders. Sami and Henry enjoyed three rides before we moved on. The main part of the village was the old village buildings. There was a school, and many different kinds of houses. Kids played a traditional game of tossing bamboo sticks in the air, trying to get them to land in metal pots. Not easy. We toured a small cultural museum and then enjoyed a delicious lunch in a park restaurant.
Planning to stay in Seoul now, for the whole week. Only problem is that our hotel has no rooms available for the two extra days that we want to stay. We are on a waiting list and will have to change hotels if nothing opens up. Keeping our fingers crossed that something will open up here.
Hoping to go out to find some acceptable dinner restaurant soon. We waited too long last night, after all falling asleep, and waking up jet lagged and exhausted. We ended up with over priced, marginal pizza in the hotel. Finding things for Sami to eat has proved to be a bit of a challenge. The rest of us are really enjoying the local fare. Off to Holt office and Incheon tomorrow.

Denali and I enjoyed your blog with breakfast and look forward to reading more about your adventures. In yesterday's photos, Henry looked as if he was in noodle heaven. He might opt to stay there.
You should put a wish for 2 extra days at your hotel on one of those "wish boards".
Monya and Denali arrived yesterday and if the weather cooperates we will be watching a shark training session at the Mote this morning and then boarding the Mote boat for a trip on the bay.
Take care. Love to all.
